“Dream it (everything begins in the heart and mind), believe it, tell it, plan it & act on it. The establishment of DFWKP epitomizes this proverb and continues to inspire us daily.

DFWKP is the brainchild of Late Kantilal Shah. Under his guidance, a preliminary meeting of few members of the Khadayata community was held at Hindu Temple and the idea to form a Khadayata group of DFW area was put forward. This meeting was instrumental in the formation of the group and was attended by Dilip Shah, Ketan Shah, Krushnakant Shah, Nirva Shah, Maulesh Shah, Shailesh Shah, Nimesh Shah & Umesh Shah. The group was inspired by Kantilal’s vision and they accepted his challenge to start the DFW Khadayata Parivar. Through this new group they aimed to bring the community together in order to maintain the Khadayata heritage and pass on the culture to next generation. After many meetings and much effort, hard work, enthusiasm and dedication of all members, the interest in the group grew and in 2013 after the final meeting at Nimesh Shah’s home, DFW Khadayata Parivar officially was born as DFWKP.

The cultural activities of DFWKP Kotyark Ujani/Diwali dinner are organized through the guidance and dedication of Nirva Shah. Various dances & Garba are beautifully choreographed and coordinated by her, which always helps enrich these events and make them even more memorable. Mrs. Nirva shah has a long history of sharing the art of Indian classical dance with the DFW community through her dance school as well as by voluntarily  participating in various community events and functions of Hare Krishna Temple, Hindu temple, Senior citizen group of Plano etc.

Scholarship award:  Mr. Dilip Shah and Dr. Varsha Shah have a long history of support and mentorship of  UTD Students. In 2017, they decided to endow a scholarship (total $1000.00) in memory of their late mothers, Shantaben & Shantaben Shah. Starting in 2018 DFWKP, began awarding this merit based scholarship to a well deserving high school senior from the Khadayata community.

2014, we had few young kids participate to create  logo for DFWKP. Aditya Shah (son of Ketan & Nimisha Shah) with his brilliant, and thoughtful thinking, created the DFWKP logo that you all see today.

Since 2016, Mrs. Devangi Nager has been leading and planning Kids games/activities at DFWKP Picnic and Kotyark Ujani/Diwali Dinner event. Her enthusiasm and new innovative game ideas are making  these events fun filled for kids.Very quickly, due to increasing community support and ever expanding involvement of members, the DFWKP group was passionate to increase its impact on the community.

Community Service: In 2018, DFWKP committee was elaborating ways to get involved in community service.  Inspired by Dr. Varsha Shah and Dilip Shah’s passionate support of the North Texas Food Bank (NTFB), the group began to collect food donations and started volunteering at the NTFB through their leadership. Since that time, DFWKP continues to support the NTFB through fundraising, arranging multiple food drives and regularly volunteering at NTFB to help the less fortunate in the DFW metroplex.

In the first few years, DFWKP organized 3 activities per year: 1) annual picnic 2) Kotyark Ujani/Diwali dinner and 3) participation in Ananad bazar (holi celebration) to raise funds for Hindu temple.

Website Launch: In 2020 DFWKP reached one of the most important milestone by launching the website www.dfwkp.com under the leadership of then President Mr. Maulesh Shah and with the help of a dedicated volunteer Manan Shah [website builder, London, England]. Having  full functional website is very important for organization to tell the story, expand reach and to drive new interest. The website features DFWKP history, wealth of information, past and future events etc.
